INTRODUCING Dearbhla Glynn // Human Rights Filmmaker, Journalist, Photographer, Woman, Storyteller, Yoga Instructor, Realist and many other things.
Dearbhla is the most humble person I know and one of my favourite humans. Since meeting her my life motto has become “be more like Dearbhla.” I’m so proud to call her my friend.
Dearbhla spends her free time immersing herself in the culture of conflict war zones, getting to know the inhabitants and capturing deeper elements of stories of war, sexual violence and the biggest refugee crisis in history. From Congo to Gaza and Haiti, Dearbhla raises awareness and humanises the stories of the suffering in conflict war zones to make them relatable to those more fortunate, and we owe it to them to listen.
Dearbhla is motivated by empathy, inherently focusing on the positives and telling inspiring stories of the strength and resilience of women, women who are not victims of rape or war, but women who are survivors. She also gives a rare and valuable dialogue to the perpetrators of rape, including a 12-year-old boy in the Congo who had already raped two girls and was overcome with guilt and shame when he realised it was a crime.
Take off your blinkers. Educate yourself. Do your part with what you can to make the world a more peaceful & sustainable place.
